Vijaya Bank was founded on 23rd October, 1931 by Shri. Attavar Balakrishna Shetty at Bunts Hostel in Mangaluru, in the state of Karnataka, in India. Vijaya Bank was established on the auspicious day of Vijayadashami Day so this bank was named as Vijaya Bank. The main objective of this particular bank was to wholeheartedly promote banking habits, entrepreneurship and thrift among the farming community of Dakshina Kannada district in the state of Karnataka. In 1958, the bank became a scheduled bank. During 1963-68, nine smaller banks merging with it. On April 15, 1980, the bank was nationalised. Vijaya Bank rallies 6%

The company has received the approval of shareholders to raise Rs 9 billion through equity shares.

On Monday the bank share jumped to Rs 37.7 which was a high of 6 %.

The share opened at Rs. 37 post which it saw a low and high of 37 and Rs 38.9 respectively. So far the number of shares traded on the counter was 950527 including both BSE and NSE. The market cap of the company is currently Rs 3560.88

The BSE stock from group B has a face value of Rs 10 and it touched a high of 52 weeks at Rs 42.3 on 07 July 2015 and a low from 52 weeks of Rs 28.7 on 18 Jan 2016. The high for the last one week that the share saw was of Rs 38 and the low of the share stood at Rs 34.4.

The holding held by promoters was 68.2 % and the institutions and non institutions held 17.79 and 13.98 %.

Currently the share is trading above its 200 DMA.

Vijaya Bank officially announces auction of First City project

In the recent development, Vijaya Bank is planning to auction Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and the First City Housing Project of Multimodal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) for recovery of Rs 234.50 crore from Chourangi Builders and Developers which was formerly known as Reatox Builders and Developer Private Limited in the open market.

On February 16 between 11 am to 1.30 pm, on Vijaya Bank web-site regarding auction published an auction sale notice of the buildings. It is to be remembered that the concern obtained loan from the Vijaya Bank in a successful manner for construction of building on sprawling 31 acres of land at Khapri Village that having survey number such as 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 40, 47 plus 50. In the village Khapri (Rly) in Hingna PS, the land comprising 11.644 acres with constructions situated has also been completely seized by this particular bank because of loan default payment.

It is to be highly noted that for the auction of whole piece of land, the Bank has perfectly finalised reserve price of Rs 299 crore. It may be cited that Mumbai based Reatox Builders and Private Limited made an agreement earlier with Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) for right construction of flats for people who are working in the SEZ area in 2008. Later things happened on the wrong note which the bank didnt agree as it was as per the agreement rules and regulations in the open market.

Vijaya Bank successfully raises Rs 450 crore from bonds

In the open market, the State-owned Vijaya Bank official announced that it has raised in a successful manner Rs 450 crore from bonds in order to fund business growth and development. It is to be highly noted that the bank had largely received approval in order to raise Rs 500 crore from Basel-III compliant tier-II Bonds by method of private placement. On the other hand, at a coupon rate of 8.64 percent, this bank has properly raised Rs 450 crore from tier-II bonds, it mentioned in a statement. It is to be remembered that shares of Vijaya Bank actually closed at Rs 30.55 on the BSE, up 3.04 percent from their recent previous close.

Vijaya Bank Adopts Girl Child

VISAKHAPATNAM: Recently, the Vijaya Bank Ltd (VBL) opened its new branch at Anakapalle, which is a Municipal Town in Visakapatanam. The Vijaya Bank is a public sector undertaking bank having branches all over India. The VBLs head quarter is in Bangalore. On the eve of its inauguration, the bank has taken few social initiatives like empowering women of this locality for educational cause. The VBL will be responsible to fund the adopted girls entire educational expenses. This was the latest news of Anakapalle.

On the inauguration time, the B S Rama Rao, who is the executive director of Vijaya Bank, draw the attention of the audience by the Vijaya Banks Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) serving all India. Under the CSR program, the banks can spend up to INR 5000 until the girl child pass her 10+2 level in any stream. Later on, the bank will fund for her graduation expense by INR 10000 annually for the course program. He also mentioned that, the bank would cover all rural areas new branches to adopt a girl child for her educational expenses. This financial years target is to adopt 100 such girls all over India.

As per executive directors speech, the Vijaya Bank has taken many such initiatives under CSR activities. This includes providing school van facilities to rural schools. They fund money for bus shelters. To set-up rural health centers, where there is no local health clinics. They also build toilets in rural areas. The bank is also looking more CSR ideas to do differently.
