Royal Bank of Scotland announce closure of 6 out of 10 ten branches from 1st October, 2016


According to the announcement made by Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS)-In total of 10 RBS branches in India, they are going to close six branches. This decision would be effective from 1st October, 2016.RBS informed to its clients with help of a notice that the branches present in Pune, Hyderabad, Noida, Vadodara, Bengaluru and Gurgaon are the 6 retail branches which will stop functioning from 1st October.

RBS further declared, soon other four branches in Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi will close after notice. RBS, which is a huge international banking and financial services company was established in India in 1921. After its announcement about the closure of its 6 retail branches, it asked the clients to get their accounts closed and make other decisions for banking, demat account(s) and wealth management. The deadline given by RBS is on or before 31st August, 2106. From 31st July, 2016, no term deposits or new savings will be entertained added RBS.

RBS in May, declared that soon they going to start the process of winding up from retail banking and close their branches in the country. The British lender decided to exit from India long before when The Reserve Bank of India denied to clear the sale of RBS’s 16 branches over HSBC. RBI driving reason for denying was HSBC’s decision. HSBC’s almost has 50 branches however it opposed converting its branch banking route into a fully- owned subsidiary route.
