Basic of IFSC Code

Government starts selling its SUUTI stake


According to reports the govt. has began the process of getting rid of its shares in 51 companies which include  marquee firms like Reliance Industries ,ICICI Bank and Tata Motors. This shares are at present  held through Specified Undertaking of UTI or SUUTI.

The reduction in the holding of these shares will be done over a period of three years. The SUUTI was created to hold a portion of the assets and liabilities of the UTI but the UTI has now become defunct. SUUTI now holds a 11.27% stake in ITC, approximately 8 % stake in L&T and 11.66 portion of Axis Bank.

The sale of the shares in the company will take place on an individual company to company basis.

The cabinet committee of economic affairs(CCEA) has allowed Axis Bank to raise foreign shareholding up to 74%.


The government has given approval to Axis Bank to raise foreign shareholding up to 74 %. This move by the  govt. will not only create 7000 jobs over three years but also bring FDI worth Rs 13000 Cr into the country. Before this the foreign investment of the bank used to be up to 62 % of its total paid up share capital. The telecom minister Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad said after the CCEA meeting that FDI of Rs 12973.14 Cr will be brought into the country with this approval. The foreign investment will be done by Foreign Institutional Investors / Foreign Director Investment covering American Depository Receipt /Global Depository Receipt and Indirect Foreign Investment/ Foreign Portfolio Investors and NRIs. Axis bank share came to a close at Rs 539.60 at BSE which was .79 % below its previous close. Axis bank came into operation in 1994 and its promoters are UTI,LIC,GIC and its subsidiaries.

Axis bank gains as the foreign investment ceiling hike is approved by the Govt.


Axis Bank increased to Rs 544 /- on BSE, with an increase of .84 % . This change came  after the Union Cabinet gave its nod to hike the highest on the foreign investment in the bank to 74 % of equity capital on a fully interchangeable basis from its earlier 62 %.

In the meantime the American stock market index S&P BSE Sensex was up 0.2% or 54.02 points at 27,220.89. On BSE the average daily volume of shares in the last quarter was 7.3 lakh and so far 1.08 lakhs shares have been traded in this quarter.

The intraday high and low of the share was Rs 536 and 544.90 respectively  . As on 16 July 2015 the stock hit a 52 week high of Rs 613.40 and as on 18 January 2016 the 52 week low was of Rs 366.65.

The face value of each share is Rs 2 and the equity capital of the bank is Rs 477.46 Cr

The FDI that will be received in the country will be to the tune of 12973.14 Cr and as on 31 March 2016 the FIIs have held a 40.86 % stake in Axis bank.

Among private sector banks in India Axis bank remains one of the biggest.

After leaving MCLRs unchanged Axis Bank slips 1%


The bank said that the MCLR (marginal cost of funds based lending rate) for overnight loans will be 8.95%. The rate for one month will be 9.05 % and for three months will be 9.25%.Axis bank slipped to Rs 522 after having slipped 1%. The bank said that for the overnight loans the MCLR will be 8.95%,the rate for one month is 9/05% and for three months it is 9.25%. The scrip opened at Rs 516 and touched an intraday high of Rs 525 and an intraday low of Rs 515.1 respectively. The total shares traded on the counter were 12403552 including both NSE and BSE. The current market cap for the company is Rs. 125692.92.The BSE group A stock that has a face value of Rs 2 touched a 52 week high of Rs 613.4 on 16 July 2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 366.65 on 18 Jan 2016. Last one week low and high of the scrip was Rs 516.5 and Rs 535.05 respectively.The holding of the promoters in the company stood at Rs 29.73 while non institutions and institutions held 10.27 % and 56..64 % respectively.

Axis Bank and Kasikorn bank of Thailand ink pact for investment trade


Axis bank today said that it has signed an agreement with the Kasikorn bank of Thailand to enhance cooperation in investment and trade.In a statement Axis Bank said that it has signed a MOU with the Kasikorn bank of Thailand which has its Head Quarters in Bangkok.

The MOU will help to strengthen the ties that are existing between the two banks and will help facilitation and enhancement of cooperation in the areas of investment, trade and other business. The agreement between the two banks was signed when the PM of Thailand Prayut Chan O Cha was on a three day visit to India.

The Axis bank said that its the first bank to have signed the MOU with the Thailand bank. The Kasikorn bank has assets worth USD 75 billion and is the fourth largest bank in Thailand. The MOU was signed by the President of Kasikorn bank and the group executive corporate and transaction banking of axis bank Mr Siddharth. The MOU was signed in New Delhi. The companies in Thailand are increasingly becoming partners in Indias economic growth.

Thailand along with Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia is one of the strong trade partners of India.

Given the vast opportunities available in the sector of infrastructure and real estate, retail and tourism India is a fast growing market attractive for Thai investors.

Axis Bank takes on Jaypee Groups headquarters


Axis Bank has wholeheartedly decided in order to take ownership of the huge and worthy asset in lieu of Rs700 crore actually owed by the Jaypee Group of company in the open market. It is to be remembered that Axis Bank Ltd located in Mumbai has lend to Jaypee Infratech Ltd. At present, the bank has taken immediate possession of the debt-laden companys headquarters located in Noida. As on 30 September, with the Yamuna Expressway, Jaypee Infratechs stand-alone debt associated stood at Rs.8, 768.54 crore. It is to be noted that the bank can immediately monetize the asset in order to reduce debt to a great extent even before the firm defaults under any situations, circumstances and conditions. It is to be remembered that in the past two years, this Business Group has already sold wind power assets in Maharashtra and Gujarat, cement assets in Haryana, Gujarat and Jharkhand plus two hydropower projects in Himachal Pradesh.
